Field Trips

Location and Accessibility:

Greenbelt Cinema is located in the heart of historic Roosevelt Center, and is walking distance from both Greenbelt Elementary School and Eleanor Roosevelt High School.  We are a fully ADA- compliant location with accessible entrances and amenities for students needing special accommodations as well as convenient access for groups transported by bus.

Field Trip Hours of Operation:

Field trips for school-aged children are held in 3-hour blocks from 10 am to 2 pm. 

Pricing:

We strive to make field trips to the Greenbelt Cinema affordable for all attending.  We do not charge for teachers and chaperones, and pricing is structured based upon the size of your student group.  Please reach out to us if some or all of your group is in need of financial assistance in order to participate, and we can discuss how we can make your trip possible!

Basic Field Trip Packages

0 - 49 students  $10.00 per person

50 - 99  students $7.00 per person

100 - 199 students $5.00 per person

Pricing includes a mini popcorn for each student. Students are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles, which can be refilled on site as necessary.  With prior arrangement, additional concessions can be made available for students to purchase at your event on a cash-only basis.

Field Trip inquiry and Booking:

Please complete the form below, and a member of our Administrative Team will reach out to you! Our Education and Outreach Coordinator, Lauren Rankel, works part-time with Greenbelt Cinema, so please allow 3-4 days for response time. *Note: In general, Tues-Thurs are preferred for field trips. Mon & Fri may be possible, but dates are more limited due to Cinema programming

Guest Speakers: In addition to the basic field trip packages outlined above, we are often able to make arrangements for a relevant guest speaker to have a conversation or Q+A session with your students after the film.  Please contact us for more details and additional costs associated with this bonus feature.

Educational Content:

You are welcome to request a specific film that meets your curriculum requirements, and we will work with you to secure the film.  Likewise, we can suggest films for you that will be relevant to your specific educational goals.  Please feel free to ask questions about either option!

Lunch:

For younger students, you may plan to bring bagged lunches.  In good weather, students and teachers may take advantage of open outdoor seating in picturesque Roosevelt Center, just outside the Cinema’s front doors.  In cases of inclement weather, we can accommodate most groups having lunch inside the Cinema.  For older students, there is a variety of restaurants and cafes in Roosevelt Center where they can purchase and enjoy lunch before or after your event.  

Flexibility:

We understand that scheduling field trips can be administratively challenging!  We encourage you to book early to ensure availability of your preferred dates as well as maximum flexibility if we need to adjust those dates to accommodate schedule changes.
