Welcome to Greenbelt Cinema!

Greenbelt Cinema is a state-of-the-art, independent, and community-based landmark movie theater that serves as our county’s cinematic cultural center. As a nonprofit theater, we are dedicated to entertaining, educating, and connecting us all through a wide range of social and cultural activities tied to film and we keep our costs low to ensure everyone in our community can attend while providing a top-notch cinema experience.
Our historic auditorium and brand new screening room lend themselves to meaningful educational and social programming that is affordable, accessible, and open to all. Our diverse and affordable programming is available to audiences of all ages, abilities, and interests. From first-run movies, independent films, blockbusters, informative Q&As, classes, and field trips, there’s something for everyone.See you at the movies!

Our Mission:

The mission of Friends of Greenbelt Theatre is to revitalize the Greenbelt Cinema as a cultural and social hub by becoming a center for film education and history in Prince George’s County. Through the creation of a vibrant programming schedule consisting of independent, arthouse, repertory, and specialty film series and festivals, we envision a Greenbelt Cinema that is an economic and cultural driver in the county. Furthermore, we are taking measurable steps to provide quality educational experiences for children, teens, and adults through film classes, film and film history education, curriculum-enhancing school field trips, and sustainable public programs/exhibitions that build new audiences.
