Matthew Franke is a music historian who works at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He has a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has presented his research at conferences in the US, Italy, and the UK. He is currently working on a book about translation in late nineteenth-century Italian opera.
